Why was it important?
Colorado's defense won the Buffs this game against the Cardinal, only allowing Stanford to score five points, two of which came on a designed play for the Buffs to take a safety. The money gang intercepted Ryan Burns three times, including two from Tedric Thompson and Isaiah Oliver's first career interception. The Buffs only allowed Stanford to throw for 170 yards all game and only rush for 93 yards. The Buffs defense was frustrating for Standford and they could never get into a rhythm. This was one of Thompson's best performances on defense besides the Utah game and it helped the Buffs secure a bowl bid for the first time since 2005.
