Fresno (Calif.) Edison safety Steve Stephens is one of the top safeties in the West. Rivals.com rates Stephens as the No. 9 overall safety and he sits at No. 114 in the Rivals250.

The Colorado football coaching staff has made Stephens a priority recruit early on in the recruiting process. CU offered him in early December and talk with him frequently.
