Colorado Football Signee: Deion Smith

Colorado got arguably its top playmaker in the 2018 class on Wednesday as Houston (Texas) Second Baptist all-purpose back Deion Smith inked with CU. Smith is a dynamic athlete with the ball in his hands and can be a three-down running back, play in the slot, and be split out on the outside at receiver as well. Smith could push for playing time his true freshman season; however, he did have an ACL injury that knocked him out for the end of his senior season, which could affect his freshman season in Boulder.

Quotable: "They need a player like me to come in," Smith said. "Someone who can come in and also play running and play slot. Instead of having to sub the running back if they want to go empty, they can just throw me at slot instead of making a sub. The tempo of the game goes faster."
