The Colorado coaching staff is on a tear with new commitments.

We reported that Davion Taylor, a junior college linebacker, was committed to the Buffs a couple of days ago, and Colorado landed a commitment from athlete Jarek Broussard on Friday.

Colorado has another new commitment in Houston (Texas) Second Baptist running back Deion Smith.

Smith, a 6-foot, 180-pound three-star 2018 recruit, visited Colorado on Tuesday and was blown away with Boulder. After returning to Houston to talk things over with his family, Smith decided that Colorado was the place for him.

"They need a player like me to come in," Smith said. "Someone who can come in and also play running and play slot. Instead of having to sub the running back if they want to go empty, they can just throw me at slot instead of making a sub. The tempo of the game goes faster."

Smith is Colorado's 11th commitment in the class of 2018. The Buffs have three commitments from prospects that are dangerous with the ball in their hands at running back - Broussard, Smith, and Max Borghi.

With Smith's commitment, Colorado has landed five commitments in the month of June, and we don't anticipate things to slow down in the month of July. Stay tuned to CUSportsNation.com for your Colorado football recruiting fix.
