Football recruits always seem pretty happy when they land an offer from the Colorado Buffaloes.

Anaheim (Calif.) Servite outside linebacker Spencer Lytle, a class of 2019 prospect, received an offer from CU on Saturday after his performance at the University of Redlands camp that the Colorado staff was in attendance for. It's safe to say it was a special offer for him to receive.

The Lytle name should sound very familiar as Colorado's 2017 quarterback signee was Tyler Lytle, who is of course Spencer's older brother.

"It was really big," the 6-foot-4, 200-pound prospect said. "I was extremely fired about it and my entire family was excited as well."

The Colorado coaching staff has been well aware of the younger Lytle as a football recruit but wanted to see him perform during this camp to see if he was ready for an offer. He proved he was worthy.

"I had a great camp and competed in every aspect," Lytle said. "The drills, race, indys and 1-on-1’s all went well. I made it a point to seek out the better players to go against all afternoon. At the end of camp Coach Mac and Coach Els were talking to me, and Coach Mac said, 'Spencer you looked great out there and, we want to offer you a scholarship. You looked real good at both outside linebacker and tight end.'"

The Colorado coaching staff will certainly remain in Lytle's ear about him coming to Colorado, but the CU staff has an ace in the hole as a recruiter. Spencer's older brother.

"He was pretty excited for me and continues to tell me how much he loves it there in every aspect," Lytle said. "Ty says I would love the coaching, classes, and overall culture of the school. Jake Moretti also spent a week at our house while they were on break, so I got to hear about CU from him also."

If the Lytle brothers are paired up in college, it would make for convenient travel weekends for their parents. But those kind of factors are secondary in Lytle's recruitment. He is looking for the best fit for him, which might be Colorado at the end of the day.

"My brother being there will certainly play a role, but my mom and dad want me to make the best decision for me when it comes time," Lytle said. "However, they do love everything about CU."

While Colorado was pursuing the older Lytle, Spencer was able to get to know the coaching staff. Now, the spotlight is on him.

I got to know most of the coaches through Tyler’s recruitment," Lytle explained. "It was awesome to be on the field with them and take in their coaching style. I spoke to just about every coach between the start and end of camp. It was cool to meet Coach Els and Brown since I never met them before and always good spending time talking with Coach Lindgren. Coach Chev is always upbeat and firing guys up. I also spoke to him a few times during camp."
