Redlands (Calif.) 2018 offensive tackle Brad Godwin is an under the radar recruit that Colorado has taken early interest in.

"I went to a camp last summer at the University of Redlands that [Colorado] held there," Godwin told CUSportsNation.com. "They invited me out here this weekend. They're the only school that I can say has been showing interest in me so far."

Godwin, a 6-foot-5, 260-pound prospect, was able to visit Colorado for their spring scrimmage on Saturday. The Colorado staff showed Godwin around campus as well.

"One of the recruiting assistants showed me around the place," Godwin said. "The facilities were top notch. I got to see how they ran their practice. I had some one on one time with coach Adams, the O-line coach, and coach MacIntyre.

"It really was a great experience, because I felt really comfortable. It really is a great school and they have great people. I had a great time."

Godwin does not have his first scholarship offer, but he hopes to land it from CU.

"[The Colorado coaches] definitely want me to keep working. My school is going through a coaching change, so it's been tough to get exposure," Godwin explained. "They want me to keep working out and gaining weight. They do believe that if I get to that stop, then I can help them in the future."

Godwin has an interesting tie to head coach Mike MacIntyre as Godwin's father played for MacIntyre at UT-Martin a couple of decades ago.

Redlands' biggest rival is East Valley Redlands, which was the home to 2017 five-star UCLA signee Jaelan Phillips. Godwin had head to head battles against Phillips, and those battles were humbling experiences for Godwin.

"I can say that it didn't go very well," Godwin said with a laugh. "He was the No. 2 defensive end in the country, but it was definitely a learning experience. I know what it's like to go against the best of the best."
