7-foot center Dallas Walton signed with the Buffaloes last Wednesday, and on Tuesday, Colorado added some more height to its roster for the 2016-17 season when 6-foot-10 forward Lucas Siewert ended his recruitment.

“Lucas signed with Colorado,” confirmed William Middlebrooks, his coach at Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral. “It was always about finding the right fit. Once Herb [Sendek] was no longer at Arizona State, that just kind of changed things and we had to go back to the drawing board. I think Tad [Boyle] is a good fit for what Lucas needs to continue his progression, so hopefully he can continue to do that at Colorado.”

Originally from Brazil, Siewert moved to the United States four years ago. He averaged 22.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game as a senior. Siewert made 161 three-pointers and made 76 percent of his free-throw attempts during his three full seasons on varsity at Cathedral.

“Colorado is getting a highly skilled four-man who plays the stretch four, possibly would be able to get some minutes at the three-spot depending on the opponent and match-ups,” Middlebrooks said. “He can guard the perimeter well. He is very athletic for his height, runs the floor well; big, strong player. Obviously the biggest thing is he is a great shooter.”

And off-the-court, Siewert is described by his coach as a “well-rounded person.”

“Good kid,” Middlebrooks said. “He is an excellent student. I don't know his overall or core grade point average but I know last year he had a 4.0. I know he is well over a 3.5."

Arizona State, Boston College, Creighton, Texas Tech, Tulsa and Utah State were among the other colleges that offered Siewert throughout the course of his recruiting process.

Currently ranked as the nation's 130th best basketball prospect from the Class of 2016, regardless of position, Siewert is the 11th Rivals150 recruit to sign with Colorado since Boyle took over as the Buffaloes head coach in 2010.

Colorado has one more scholarship available. It will most likely be used on a transfer.
