Colorado's newest commitment comes out of the Sacramento area with Elk Grove (Calif.) Cosumnes Oaks cornerback Kahlef Haillassie pledging to CU.

We look at Hailassie yesterday in our commitment analysis story, and he will bring great length to the Colorado safety. He's also a versatile prospect that could play wide receiver or safety at the next level as well.

After Colorado's superb results by their secondary last season that led three of them to the NFL Draft, the CU secondary is becoming very, very attractive for defensive back prospects.

"I chose Colorado because I see myself fitting into their system better than all the other schools," Hailassie told CUSportsNation.com.

The vibe coming into Hailassie's visit was that there was a good chance that he'd commit during or after the visit. The Buffs have been on the top of his list since they offered last month.

Hailassie waited to see Boulder in person before he made his decision to commit.

"I loved it," he said. "Everything was amazing."

The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder added that when he told the staff his intentions to commit, the whole staff was "very excited."
