As CUSportsNation.com first reported, Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon and 2017 UCLA signee Kanan Ray officially visited Colorado on Thursday. On Friday, Ray committed to the Buffaloes, and signed a financial aid agreement as well.

"Colorado just seemed like the best fit for me in all categories," Ray told CUSportsNation.com via text message. "A great college town, awesome staff, beautiful city, and outstanding facilities. I️'m excited to start my new journey as a Buff."

Ray, a four-star recruit in the class of 2017, was a grayshirt UCLA recruit as he recovered from a knee surgery. With Jim Mora out and Chip Kelly in for the Bruins, Ray got his release and was highly interest in CU.

According to a Buffzone article, Ray told his high school coach that he wanted to go to Colorado, and his coach got in touch with tight ends coach Gary Bernardi.

Ray will be back in Boulder next week to begin classes as a CU Boulder student. He will practice with the team this spring and have four years of eligibility.

The spring semester at CU begins on Jan. 16 and the Buffalo football team is scheduled to begin spring practices on Feb. 16.
