Colorado was the first offer for Aaron Maddox back in October, and his recruitment took off very quickly, as he picked up double digit offers in just a few weeks.

The Buffs won out for Maddox, a talented safety, on Monday as he announced his CU commitment. Maddox, a junior college All-American, will come to Colorado as a true sophomore and will compete for a starting spot right away this spring.

Second commit of Monday - Darrion Jones

Just a couple hours later, WIlmington (Calif.) Los Angeles Harbor C.C. tight end Darrion Jones announced his decision to commit to Colorado. Jones visited Colorado the weekend of December 1 with Maddox.

Jones is a monstrous tight end, standing at 6-foot-6, 250-pounds. He also held offers from N.C. State, Kansas, and San Diego State.

Watching Jones' film will leave you with the question: why didn't this guy have more offers? Jones moves very well for his size and will be a great end blocker.

Oregon State pursuing Daniel Arias

Colorado wide receiver commit Daniel Arias officially visited CU this past by weekend, and by all accounts, the visit went very well for the 6-foot-4, 190-pounder. However, the new Oregon State staff is trying to poach Arias.

The Beavers' head coach is Jonathan Smith, who was the offensive coordinator at Washington, so he has familiarity with Arias. Oregon State's new OC is Brian Lindgren, who obviously was at Colorado.

Lindgren and Beaver offensive line coach Jim Michalczik visited Arias on Monday, and they will try to get him to officially visit this weekend. There's no reason to be concerned unless Arias does take that official visit.
