Buffs land three new commits
Colorado hosted six official visitors last weekend, two of which were already committed to the Buffaloes. Following the weekend, the Buffaloes added three new commits.
First up was a commitment from Auburn graduate transfer defensive linemen Jaunta'vius Johnson, which was first reported by CUSportsNation.com's Mike Singer. We have also reported that Johnson will be on campus this week and will go through spring practices. The 6-foot-2, 326-pounder is also a potential candidate to receive a 6th year of eligibility.
Colorado also added athlete Daniel (DJ) Oats, who could play as a running back/slot receiver or defensive back for the Buffaloes. Oats was mostly an unknown commodity until a month or so ago, and his recruitment has blown up behind the scenes with a ton of schools expressing interest lately, but Oats is locked in with Colorado.
On Monday, junior college inside linebacker Quinn Perry announced his commitment, which he made to the CU Buffs staff during the visit.
"I can't wait to get over there," Perry told CUSportsNation.com. "I'll get there in May."
Perry comes to CU as a junior with a redshirt year available. The Buffs lose Rick Gamboa but add Perry and Jashua Allen to its inside linebacking corps.
Lloyd Murray sets Colorado official visit
Last Wednesday, CUSportsNation.com wrote about several new targets to watch, and Wichita Falls (Texas) Hirschi defensive tackle Lloyd Murray was on that list.
Perry has an offer from Colorado and also is picking up interest from a handful of new schools. As of right now, the Colorado visit is Murray's only set official visit.
Murray was committed to Ole Miss for a couple weeks in the spring of 2018 and had a stint where he was committed to Florida State in 2017.
Stay tuned for more on Murray this week from CUSportsNation.com.
Former commit takes visit to SMU
In December, Colorado assistant coach Daniel Da Prato went out to visit Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek offensive tackle Cam'ron Johnson, a 2019 recruit who was committed to CU under Mike MacIntyre. This showed that Mel Tucker's Buffs were interested in Johnson.
This past weekend, Johnson took an official visit to SMU. He's also added offers from Houston and Tulane in the past 24 hours.
Johnson took an official visit to CU last year, but a new NCAA rule allows recruits to take a second official visit to a school that has had a head coaching change. It's possible that Johnson will get back to Colorado before National Signing Day.
