Most Valuable Player
There is no doubt, Derrick White was Colorado's most valuable this year. In his first season at Colorado, White impressed everyone with his uncanny ability to play Pac-12 basketball. White would take over games for Colorado without hesitation, averaging 18.1 points per game, White was the leading scorer for the Buffs and also lead the team in blocked shots. White was named All-Pac12 first team in his only year at Colorado and was also named All-Pac12 defense. White was the only Buffalo to make an All-Pac12 team. Unfortunately, for Colorado they only had White for one season and who knows what their record would have been without him this year.
In the last three games of the season, two in the Pac-12 tournament and the first game of the NIT, White averaged 29 points, scoring 30 or above in the last two games for the Buffs. White lead this Colorado team the entire year and it's a shame his Colorado career had to come to end with a first-round loss in the NIT, there isn't another player on this team that is worthy of being rewarded with the most valuable player.
Biggest Disappointment
Colorado's Geroge King had an off year for Colorado. After winning Pac-12 Most Improved Player last season, King struggled to find his game this year. Without a true post presence this year, King had a hard time getting production. King averaged 11.1 points per game and 6.8 boards per game. Coach Boyle has talked about it many times that King is their most athletic player but he was trying to find out how to use his athletic ability this season. One thing King slowly began to develop throughout the season was his rebounding, he led the team with 230 rebounds but was very off and on all season. Next year, King is going to be the only fifth-year senior on the team and he will need to figure out his mental game and lead this young Colorado team.
