Just two days before the December 20 National Signing Day, Independence (Kansas) Community College cornerback Delrick Abrams Jr. landed an offer from the Oregon Ducks.

Abrams Jr. was flattered by the offer, but he knew that Boulder was the place that he wanted to be.

"I was blessed that they were interested in me and to have the offer," Abrams Jr. said about UO. "I already had my mind set. They wanted me to come on a visit, but it was too late."

The new early signing period for high school recruits spanned from December 20-22, but the junior college signing period is different. Junior college recruits that are enrolling early can wait until January 15 to sign.

Oregon wanted him to officially visit right before the JuCo signing deadline.

"They were trying to get me to come on a visit for the 12th and sign the 15th," Abrams Jr. said. "I wasn't trying to go through that whole process again. I already knew where I wanted to be at."

Once the Colorado coaching staff saw that Oregon was trying to poach their cornerback commit, they wanted to make sure Abrams Jr. was solid with the Buffaloes. And he was.

"They called me, and I told them that I already knew where I was going, where I was signing," he said.

Abrams Jr. will enroll at Colorado in January as a junior with a redshirt year available. He's excited to have his recruiting process officially over.

"I'm very happy," I did 18 months of JuCo. It was a blessing to do that. I finished with a 3.0 (GPA) and this semester with a 3.2. It's a blessing to be moving to the D1 level. I'm going to bring hard work everyday and want to win a championship."
