Before this weekend, Tylertown (Miss.) defensive tackle Jalen Williams was virtually an unknown prospect.
He had a few junior colleges in Mississippi that were looking at him, but FBS options just weren't there. Williams is from a town with a population of less than 2,000 people, so the lack of recrutiing attention makes sense.
However, the Colorado Buffaloes caught wind of Williams and brought him on campus for an official visit over the weekend.
Williams reports to CUSportsNation.com that Colorado has offered him a scholarship. It seems that he's closing in on a commitment to the Buffs.
"I'm very impressed but I want to talk it over with my family before I commit," Williams said.
The 6-foot-3, 295-pounder greatly enjoyed his time in Boulder.
"I really enjoyed it. The coaches and facilities were great," Williams said. "I hung out with D-line coach [Jimmy] Brumbaugh. They all seem really cool and really want me to come to Colorado."
According to his team's Maxpreps page, Williams had an extremely productive senior season. He recorded 111 tackles from his defensive line position and racked up 20 tackles for loss.
