THE COMMITMENT

Big kudos to Colorado wide receivers coach Darrin Chiaverini, as his process of recruiting Shenault goes back two and a half years.

Under former Buffs head coach Mike MacIntyre, Colorado targeted the class of 2017 Desoto trio of Xavier Newman, KD Nixon, and Laviska Shenault. All three made verbal commitments to the Buffs, but Newman ended up flipping to Baylor late in the process, and there was a fear that Nixon and Shenault would flip as well. However, Chiaverini was able to hold on to the receiver tandem and Newman signed with Baylor, where he played in five games as a sophomore in 2018.
