No. 99 - Chris Mulumba
6-foot-4, 280-pounds
Defensive End
Redshirt Junior
Helsinki, Finland
Diablo Valley College
Mulumba enrolled at Colorado in January and participated in spring drills. He comes in as a redshirt junior. Per CU's bio on Mulumba: "He signed with Central Florida after his sophomore season but did not attend school there so he sat out the year and essentially took a redshirt season." Mulumba did not play football in high school but was a state champion wrestler. Colorado offered Mulumba the day of the junior college national signing day, and he committed and signed with the Buffs right away without even visiting campus. Mulumba will fight for a starting spot at right defensive end with guys like Timothy Coleman and possibly even George Frazier.
No. 96 - Terran Hasselbach
6-foot-1, 240-pounds
Outside Linebacker
Redshirt Junior
Parker, Colorado
Regis High School
Hasselbach didn't make much of an impact in 2016 as he recorded just three tackles, but he did play in 12 games last season. Hasselbach had offseason surgery to mend a chronic shoulder injury and missed the duration of spring practice. He was listed as a starter on the spring game depth chart as Derek McCartney was injured. Hasselbach will play a larger role as a backup this season than he did last year.
No. 95 - Nick Porter
6-foot, 185-pounds
Punter/Place Kicker
Redshirt Sophomore
Louisville, Colorado
Fairview High School
Porter did not play football in high school but was a standout soccer player. He joined the CU football team in 2015 as a walk on and reshirted that season. Last year, Porter practiced with the team as a placekicker.
No. 95 - Derek McCartney
6-foot-3, 250-pounds
Outside Linebacker
Redshirt Senior
Westminster, Colorado
Faith Christian
McCartney was voted as a team captain this spring and is one of 10 Buffs to serve as a team captain twice. McCartney was out for the spring wasn't able to participate in the spring game. As a guy who's started 25 games, he brings talent and experience to a defense that really needs him to play at a high level. "He started the first three games of the season before suffering a season-ending knee injury in the first half at No. 4 Michigan. Before exiting the Michigan game with the injury he returned a fumble 18 yards for a touchdown that gave CU a 14-0 lead less than five minutes into the game" (CuBuffs.com).
