Melissa (Texas) dual-threat quarterback Brendon Lewis has emerged as one of Colorado's top quarterback targets on the board, and he could very well be the Buffs' quarterback for the class of 2020.
On March 12, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound three-star prospect visited CU for the first time. He came away very impressed.
"The trip was amazing," Lewis said. "It was well organized, and I loved it. My favorite part was probably talking ball with Coach Johnson. He’s a great guy."
Quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator Jay Johnson certainly made a big impact on Lewis' visit, as did the entire Buffs' coaching staff.
"The whole coaching staff was great," said Lewis. "Coach Tucker did a great job picking those guys. Coach Johnson is a great guy, and I’d love to be coached by him. Coach Chev is also really cool. Coach Tucker was phenomenal; he was real cool. We had a great talk, and they showed great hospitality."
The city of Boulder and the Buffs' campus also impressed Lewis.
"The campus was beautiful," Lewis said. "Walking around and looking at all the stuff they have, I got attached quickly, seeing the mountains from the stadium. It was overall beautiful."
Lewis also has offers from the likes of Boston College, Houston, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Syracuse, TCU, Texas Tech, and Vanderbilt.
Obviously, Colorado doesn't have easy competition here to land Lewis, but they may have the inside track in his recruitment.
"Being there and talking with the coaches and seeing them, I’d have to say they are now at the top of my list because I just felt it," stated Lewis. "It was different from other places. It felt like home away from home."
