Mountain View (Calif.) St. Francis offensive tackle Nikko Pohahau was a very late addition to Colorado's official visitor list for this past weekend. On Friday, Buffs' offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic invited Pohahau up for the visit.

"He told me to come on a visit the day of, and I loved it," Pohahau said.

And the day after Pohahau returned from his visit from Colorado, he announced his commitment to the Buffaloes. Coach Kapilovic played a big role in leading the 6-foot-5, 270-pounder to CU.

"I was talking to Coach Kap probably two weeks before I visited," Pohahau explained. "We built a strong relationship in a very short period of time. We had some very good conversations outside of football -- about life in general and my upbringing."

And as far as the visit goes, Pohahau felt like CU and the city of Boulder is a great fit for him.

"It was great. Definitely a college town, for sure," he said. "I loved the snow. It's nice to be in the cold weather. I love Boulder. It's a great view with the mountains. Getting to see the mountains every day will be great."

Pohahau vows to bring strong work ethic to the Buffs' team.

"I've been through a lot. A lot of hard times in my life. I'm going to get ready for work," he said. "I'm humble, hard working, and I like to let my actions speak."
