Lots of positives out of first scrimmage

Mike MacIntyre seemed pleased overall following Colorado's first full scrimmage of spring camp.

Most importantly, for this time of year, there were no injuries to report. Regarding the action on the field, there were plays made in all facets of the game according to the Buffs' head coach. No scrimmage is ever perfect, but this one sounded like it went about as well as possible.

"A little bit of all the units flashed," MacIntyre said. "And James [Stefanou] kicked the ball really well in that wind."

"Both sides made plays. We had touchdowns. We had interceptions. We had good tackles. We had good runs," he continued. "It was kind of how you usually hope it goes. You don't want to see one side just completely dominate the whole time."

Youngsters and newcomers stepping up

Young returning players and junior college newcomers have done well early in camp. Delrick Abrams, Mustafa Johnson, Darrion Jones and Davion Taylor are having to adjust quickly, but have impressed the coaches already.

"They're getting better and making some plays," said MacIntryre. "Couple of our redshirt freshman made some plays out there on defense too which was good to see."

Now we could not see today's scrimmage, but Coach MacIntyre did speak specifically on redshirt freshman Nate Landman and Carson Wells.

"Nate keeps making plays," he said. "It's good to see Carson out there healthy and running around. He did some good things."
