Lytle making the rounds, will check out Colorado early next month

When Tyler Lytle makes his college decision, most likely in June, it will be a well informed decision. He has already visited two colleges in the Pacific Northwest, and in the coming months, he plans to check out seven more FBS programs.

Colorado is one of the schools Lytle will to take an unofficial visit to. He plans to be in Boulder with his family when the Buffaloes host their second Junior Day on April 2.

"I have been in a lot of contact with [cornerbacks] coach [Charles] Clark and [co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks] coach [Brian] Lindgren. Coach Clark recruits our area so he has been out to our school twice now," Lytle said. "[Co-offensive coordinator and receivers] coach [Darrin] Chiaverini is actually the one who offered me, about three weeks ago. I talk to him probably once a week and he is excited to get me out there."

"Coach Chiaverini thinks I could do big things at Colorado," he continued. "Coach Chiaverini feels like I can help them on their way to bringing back their glory days. He was actually at receiver at Colorado when they were highly ranked and winning bowls."

Lytle said he is considering the Buffs' offer to be "part of an up-and-coming program."

"I enjoy the conversations I have with Colorado's coaches. It really hasn't been a salespitch with them, it has been more of a genuine conversation, which is pretty nice," he said. "I like Colorado's staff a lot. I am really looking forward to getting out there."

Lytle attended Oregon State's Junior Day last weekend, and he came away impressed. He plans to take another unofficial visit to Arizona State this coming weekend.

“[Co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks] coach [Kevin] McGiven and the Oregon State staff treated me and my family really well. I really had a good day there,” Lytle said. “Oregon State was definitely one of the best visits we've had so far.

"I am really looking forward to getting out to ASU now. I have a great relationship with [offensive coordinator and quarterbacks] coach [Chip] Lindsay. He is a great guy, love talking to him. I have been out there twice before but not while Coach Lindsay has been there. I want to sit down and talk to him more about how he sees me fitting in."

Lytle plans to take a second unofficial visit to Washington State, and he also wants to stop by Vanderbilt, Hawaii, Fresno State, Columbia and Cornell before deciding.

"I am just enjoying the process, this has always been my dream," Lytle said. "I am shooting for probably a June commitment because I want to prepare and play my senior year knowing where I am going to college and help that school recruit players there."

College coaches have been trying to figure out what Lytle wants in a school. While he knows he wants to study Business, he has struggled to give them a concrete answer.

"I don't think there is any perfect formula in picking a college," Lytle said. "I think it is just one of those things where you get on campus, you talk to the coaches, you see how the team acts, see them in action, and you know if it is a perfect fit for you or not."

All of the aforementioned colleges have offered Lytle. Boston College, Cal, Colorado State, Illinois, Miami-Florida, Temple and UNLV are other schools after his signature.

Only one pro-style quarterback recruit in the Golden State currently ranks higher than Lytle. He will attempt for an invite to the Elite 11 camp by attending a tryout in Oakland.

“The biggest thing colleges have commented on about my game is how my release is quick for how big and tall I am,” Lytle said. “Delivery wise, I have a fast release being 6-foot-5. I am able to be mobile in the pocket and deliver the ball with accuracy.”
