Colorado recently appeared in the Top 9 for Central (Central) Louisiana cornerback Da'Veawn Armstead, a three-star prospect.
Armstead was offered by Brett Maxie and the Buffs on May 27. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect listed Purdue, Memphis, Tulane, Arkansas State, Houston, Indiana, Louisiana Tech and Louisiana-Lafayette within his Top 9.
Florida Atlantic and Southern Methodist have also offered while in total, Armstead's offer sheet is now north of 10.
The Buffs, since offering, have sent Armstead some customized graphics. Right now, he appears to be a main target of Maxie's, as Jordan Eubanks and TJ Quinn — both 2021 DBs Maxie had offered and pursued, as well as hosted for virtual visits — have committed elsewhere.
Eubanks committed to Florida State a few weeks ago while Quinn followed in his father's footsteps and recently committed to Louisville.
Armstead has told a few other Rivals affiliates, including TheHillTopics (which provides comprehensive coverage of Southern Methodist athletics) that he's not opposed to waiting until after his senior season at Central High School to commit.
Business appears to be the major of choice Armstead wants to pursue, so for Colorado, that might be an advantage considering the solid reputation of its Leeds School of Business.
At Central, Armstead plays wide receiver as well as corner and safety. On the defensive size of the ball, his film advertises a quick, physical DB that's already developed an impressive understanding of quarterback tendencies.
Maxie is recruiting him as a safety and will look in the coming weeks and months to stay on his case.
