Junior College receiver set to decide

A native of The Natural State, Kabion Ento signed with Arkansas Tech, a Division II program, out of high school in 2014. At the last minute, the 6-foot-3, 175-pound wide receiver called an audible and enrolled at East Central Community College in Mississippi instead.
"I really wanted to play Division-1 football, at the highest level, on the biggest stage, so that is why I ended up going the Junior College route even though I was a full qualifier," said Ento, who took an official visit to Colorado this past weekend. "Things didn't go as I wanted it to go my freshman year, though.

"I was making simple freshman mistakes, like not looking the ball in the whole time. I never had a bad attitude about it, though, and I was always willing to work. Toward the end of my freshman year I started doing pretty well. Last summer and during my sophomore year, I really started to put in a championship type effort with my teammates and it paid off."
Ento excelled as a possession receiver, and even got behind the secondary at times. He hauled in roughly 40 catches for 600 yards and eight touchdowns this fall. What helped Ento excel during his sophomore year at the Junior College level?
"I have always been blessed with the ability to jump so that is one of my strengths as a receiver," he said. "I try to work hard on my routes. That is something I think every receiver should really try to pride themselves on. You might not be the fastest guy in the world but I try to make sure my routes are great. I study them and I work on them, work on them and work on them. I understand they might never be perfect but I strive to be as close to perfect as possible with my routes."
Jacksonville State, UT-Martin, Northwestern State, Southeast Missouri State and Delta State offered Ento and then, with his strong performance in East Central C.C.'s bowl game, he added offers from Colorado and Toledo. His dream of getting a chance to play FBS football had been realized.
"[Buffaloes cornerbacks] coach Charles Clark came out to see me play and shortly afterward they offered and got me out on a visit," Ento recapped. "I know they were talking to my coach but to me, they were kind of new to the mix. I took a visit out there this weekend and it went very well, I really liked it."
Soon-to-be junior receiver Shay Fields served as his player host when Ento was in Boulder. Aside from its distance to his home, nothing about his experience at Colorado was a negative.
"It is far, but I don't get homesick so that was not bad. Of course it is beautiful scenery in Colorado," Ento said. "They have a wonderful stadium, a nice campus, they have a great academic program and there are a lot of positives to the place."
He also took an official visit to Toledo, and with the mid-year Junior College signing period fast approaching, Ento is getting ready to make his college decision.
"I will be choosing between Toledo and Colorado pretty soon," he said. "I am going to try to decide probably the day before my signing period begins on Tuesday. I will talk it over with my family, my coaches, and hopefully within a day or two, I will make my decision."
After winning nine games in the regular season, Toledo will face off against Temple in the Boca Raton Bowl on Dec. 22.
"I felt real comfortable at Toledo. There are really nice people out there," Ento said. "Toledo is not flashy, it is not as big as Colorado, but it looks like a very good place. Their program is starting to come up, they're on the up-rise.
"Toledo and Colorado basically told me they want me to come in and play X-receiver, compete for a starting position of course with me being a Junior College player. They expect me to come compete and if everything works out, I'd have the ball in my hands a little bit."
Ento will join the Buffs or Rockets in January with three to play two. He wants to major in Education with the goal of being a high school football coach down the road.
"I respect every other Junior College player out there. A lot of people don't understand how hard it is when you are not getting the recruiting attention you want at the beginning but you keep working hard and hopefully it'll pay off. It finally is for me," Ento said.
