The Colorado Buffaloes have a new football commitment, as Independence (Kan.) outside linebacker Jamar Montgomery announced his pledge to CU on Monday morning.
"It was definitely love at first sight when I stepped on campus and got around," Montgomery told CUSportsNation.com.
Montgomery was hoping to sign with a school in December but had to push things back to the normal signing period. The Buffs have been in contact with him for the past month. Defensive coordinator Tyson Summers has led the charge for the Buffs.
"They hit me up right after the dead period, and that was a blessing for me," he said.
Montgomery officially visited Colorado this past weekend, and going into the visit, he felt that the Buffs may offer him a scholarship while on campus.
That came to fruition.
"They treated me like family, like a second home," he said. "That's what I was looking for. It's definitely a place I can see myself at.
"We looked at the facilities, and I felt like they were the best in the country. It can help you build your game."
Montgomery recorded 24 tackles, six sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in eight games last season.
He comes to Colorado as a true junior and will enroll this summer.
