Colorado defensive graduate assistant Aziz Shittu is an interesting guy to follow on social media. He frequently posts workout videos while also taking an active role in recruiting.

That kind of robust energy seems fair to expect for someone as fresh out of the NFL as Shittu. He was brought on as a G.A. back on April 1 after retiring from the NFL following four years dating back to 2016 spent with the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.

Shittu was a standout defensive lineman at Stanford from 2012-2015 and as a senior, earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors on the gridiron as well as All-Academic league accolades; he holds a degree in Psychology from Stanford.

So, formally spelling out Shittu's resume, he is a decorated Pac-12 veteran who got his degree and then grinded it out in the NFL as and undrafted free agent.

Seems like exactly the kind of guy that Chris Wilson would want as his right hand man.

Wilson, of course, knows Shittu well from their time together with the Eagles, where they both earned Super Bowl LII rings in 2018.

"First thing, he’s obviously a guy who comes from a great background: Stanford grad, knows the Pac-12 well," Wilson said of Shittu. "He came (into the NFL) as a rookie with a chip on his shoulder as an undrafted free agent."

The way Wilson put it, he didn't beat around the bush when telling Shittu his vision for him fitting into the equation in Philadelphia.

"We talked about what our plan was for him and why we wanted him," Wilson said. "He was a guy who could help us as a pass rush specialist, we thought, and he did that. He came in and did everything we asked and now fast forward four years later, he wants to extend his career."

Shittu furthermore was ranked as the No. 27 overall recruit in the nation coming out of Buhach Colony High in Atwater, Calif.

Shittu checks off a lot of boxes in terms of being an asset for Wilson that can really make a difference for Colorado's defensive linemen. The two seem to have carried a rapport established in Philadelphia right into Boulder.

"Two things I think are really important: A, he’s a really good communicator and he’s a hard worker," Wilson said. "You can always find places for guys like that but I’m excited to have him.”
