Finau commits to Colorado

After a hiatus of a month and a half, Colorado has landed a new football commitment.

Sacramento (Calif.) Burbank defensive end Tava Finau officially visited Colorado this past weekend, and after discussing things over with those close to him, Finau decided to make a verbal commitment to the Colorado Buffaloes.

Finau informed the coaching staff of his intentions to commit on Tuesday morning but waited until late Wednesday night to announce his decision.

Finau selected the Buffs over the likes of Boise State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, San Diego State, Utah State, and Washington State.

"Colorado is a great place," Finau said on Sunday following his visit. "They fed us, a lot. I mean, a lot. I never was hungry, which I really liked. We went over the academics, which is great at Colorado. The place itself and the scenery is really beautiful."

Finau plays as a 4-3 defensive tackle in high school, but Colorado runs a 3-4. The CU staff still sees Finau fitting in well in their defense.

"They want to put me as a defensive end as a 4-I (the gap between the guard and tackle). If that doesn't work, they could put me at nose tackle if I get bigger," Finau said. "How they explained everything, I feel great about it."

Offensive line coach Klayton Adams and defensive line coach Jim Jeffcoat are the two main coaches recruiting Finau for the Buffaloes.

Finau was originally scheduled to officially visit Washington State in November, but now with his Colorado commitment, we're not sure at the moment whether or not he'll still take that visit but it is unlikely that he takes it.
