Those who know Houston (Texas) Clear Lake offensive tackle Frank Fillip even just a little bit know that he's a very low drama young man.

Fillip committed to Colorado during the summer of his senior year for many reasons, one of them being so that he get the recruiting process over with to focus on his senior season.

But the process didn't end, as several schools extended scholarships to him just days before the new December signing period. Fillip never announced those offers on Twitter like you see a high majority of recruits do these days.

In fact, Fillip simply turned down most of the offers. Fillip did confirm that UCLA was a late offer for him, but he did not want to say any of the other schools that offered him late out of respect to those coaching staffs.

Fillip couldn't help but be interested in Notre Dame though and officially visited there the weekend before National Signing Day.

However, Fillip ended up signing with Colorado on December 20.

"It was pretty hard, but I just had to go with my gut decision," Fillip said. "I really couldn't make a logical decision, so I just had to go with my gut. They are both such good schools; it was impossible to decide between them."

Notre Dame first contacted Fillip's high school coach a couple of weeks before they spoke with the 6-foot-6, 275-pound recruit. The day after Fillip chatted with the ND staff for the first time, he took his official visit.

"I knew they were interested when they asked for my test score and transcripts," said Fillip. "I liked their coaches, players, and all of their history behind the school. One thing that put me off was all of their students had already gone home for winter break, so it was just kind of empty [for my official visit]."

Luckily for the Buffaloes, Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre had an in-home visit with Fillip the same day that he set up the Notre Dame visit.

"Coach MacIntyre was at my house that night. I told him when he was there," recalled Fillip. "He wasn't happy about it, obviously. He told me that they were coming on this late because they had somebody else back out at the last second. He said to remember how I felt when I was at Colorado before I went."

Fillip made his final decision to stick with Colorado the Monday night before the Dec. 20 Wednesday Signing Day.

"It was a weight off my shoulders," Fillip said. "I knew as soon as I signed that I made right choice."
