What about the defensive line?

The Pac-12 revolves around putting pressure on the quarterback and stopping the run, meaning that it’s key to have a solid defensive line. Most of the question marks regarding this year’s group is centered around their inexperience (at least starting) and limited time playing together.

At defensive tackle, Javier Edwards spent last season at Blinn Junior College, at the defensive end positions, Leo Jackson and Timothy Coleman had a combined one start last season, and outside linebacker Derek McCartney missed all but two games last year. Also, the Buffs lost N.J. Falo because of a violation of team rules. Other players such as Eddy Lopez, Michael Matthewes, and Chris Mulumba will look to step up on the defensive line.

It’s no secret that this group lacks starting experience, but will they be able to figure it out and perform at a high level week-after-week? Can any of these guys take their game to the next level and be the leader of the group?

Bringing in Edwards was arguably the biggest signee of the 2017 class for Colorado in terms of instant impact and filling a need. He should have a solid season, and Jackson and Coleman will be ready for their big roles this fall.
