CU evaluating San Antonio 'backer

Kyle Andersen has yet to receive his first offer, but the 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker from San Antonio (Texas) Reagan is on the radar of many FBS programs. The schools showing the most interest to this point are Colorado, Colorado State and Missouri.

“Those schools are saying they are going to come down during the spring to check out me out during spring practices and then they want me to come out to their camp this summer as well,” said Andersen. “Some other schools like TCU, Kansas and Houston came through Reagan this winter.”

Andersen was his District's Defensive Player of the Year, and he was also named first-team all-area and honorable mention all-state, after racking up 122 tackles and six sacks as a junior.

“I work very hard and I have instincts that allow me to play fast and make plays,” Andersen said. “I love hitting people. I like the physicality part of the game.”

Andersen was in the Centennial State earlier this month, and he stopped by both Fort Collins and Boulder.

“I loved the campus in Boulder and the facilities at Colorado are incredible,” he recapped. “I felt very comfortable around their coaches. They were friendly and easy to talk to. [Defensive line] coach [Jim] Jeffcoat came down to Reagan after the season and he said he is going to come back out during the first week of May for spring practices.

“Colorado State has a great stadium they are building that would be ready by the time I enroll in college. The coaches there were also really friendly and I look forward to hearing more from them in the future.”

Andersen plans to camp at Colorado, Colorado State and Missouri this summer.

“I am just going to keep working hard,” he said.
