BOULDER-- With Colorado losing in the second round of the Pac-12 tournament they now wait to see if they will get invited to the National Invitation Tournament. The Buffs sit at a 19-14 record after starting their season 0-7 in conference play. Right now Colorado is on the bubble of the NIT if they would have got to 20 wins this season their chance at a NIT bid would be higher.
According to NYC Buckets, Colorado is a bubble team at the sixth seed, this all depends on how other conference champs do in their conference tournament. If a conference champion doesn't win their conference tournament they automatically earn a bid to the NIT. A positive for giving Colorado a NIT bid would be the revenue they are able to bring in, the Buffs would most likely host some NIT games in Boulder because of the amount of tickets they will be able to sell compared to some other small schools.
Below is an updated NIT Bracketology from NYC Buckets, all the teams in bold have an automatic bid and the teams in italic are bubble teams that are awaiting the results of conference tournaments.
Have Auto Bid (If Necessary): Vermont (America East), Middle Tennessee (CUSA), Cal St. Bakersfield (WAC), NC Central (MEAC), UT Arlington (Sun Belt), Princeton (Ivy League), Nevada (MWC), UC Irvine (Big West), New Orleans (Southland), North Dakota (Big Sky), Akron (MAC).
