CUSportsNation.com chatted with Valor Christian head coach Rod Sherman last week in an interview that can be read here. He talked about Colorado quarterback commit Blake Stenstrom as well as 2019 prospects Luke McCaffrey and Joshia Davis.

We also asked Sherman about someone that lines up against his team.

Valor Christian knocked off Cherry Creek last season on September 29 by the score of 42-26. It was arguably Dimitri Stanley's best game of the season as he caught six passes for 85 yards and three touchdowns for the Bruins.

The two teams met again in the 5A state playoffs with Valor coming away victorious once again, 10-7.

"We think he's an outstanding football player," Sherman said about Stanley. "Their starting quarterback, who we think is very strong, got hurt earlier in the season, so that probably limited the amount of catches that Stanley had.

"I think he is as good of a wide receiver that this state has seen in quite a few years. He can set up routes really well. He has a good shake at the top of his routes and has the uncanny ability to get open. I think he'll contribute early and often at CU and good for him for staying in-state."

Colorado has three commitments from the state of Colorado in the 2018 class with Stanley, defensive back Ray Robinson, and quarterback Blake Stenstrom on the board for the Buffs.

"They're doing an excellent job," Sherman said about CU's in-state recruiting. "I think a lot of in-state high school coaches get frustrated that they don't offer more in-state guys, but they don't realize that [Colorado] is trying to go compete against Washington, Stanford, and Oregon, and you're not going to have 50% of your roster come from this state and compete to win the Pac-12 on a yearly basis.

"I think they do an exceptional job recruiting the top talent in this state. Their commitment first and foremost is to put the best team on the field and not just recruit this state."
