On Wednesday, January 18th FootballScoop.com announced that Kentucky Defensive Coordinator DJ Eliot is headed to Colorado. The quick write up did not indicate if Eliot would take over as the Buffs' new defensive coordinator, rather the update said he'd head to the Buffs in a similar capacity.
Eliot who is listed at Kentucky as the current Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach has coached at Kentucky for four seasons and previously coached at Florida State in 2012.
Kentucky's defense allowed 31.3 points per game this season and an average of 434.2-yards per game.
According to a USA Today Report, Eliot was paid $575,000 per season at Kentucky.
On January 10th, 2017 Colorado assistant coach Joe Tumpkin was suspended from the team amid a police investigation regarding domestic violence.
Tumpkin was serving as the interim Defensive Coordinator for Colorado replacing Jim Leavitt who left Colorado for Oregon on December 14th.
No official word has been provided by the Colorado Athletics Department as of January 18th.
