It's fairly common that schools will look at a prospect at both receiver and cornerback or offensive guard and defensive tackle, to give a couple of examples.
Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral wide receiver Tommy Christakos has scholarship offers for multiple positions too -- kicker and wide receiver, which isn't a common combination. He grew up playing soccer, and once he started playing football, he tried out kicking and had natural skills.
On March 15, Christakos announced that he received an offer from the Buffs for both kicker and receiver.
"I think that my fourth or fifth offer for both positions," Christakos said.
At first, Colorado identified Christakos as a kicker, but then after watching his film at receiver, news got even better for the 6-foot-4, 205-pound three-star prospect.
"They put my film in front of the head coach (Mel Tucker) and offensive coordinator (Jay Johnson) and they said, 'We need to offer this guy at receiver as well.' I could potentially go into that program and play both positions and compete," said Christakos.
Christakos was excited to land the offer from the Buffaloes.
"I was super pumped. I've heard it's a beautiful campus," he said. "It's kind of close to my home, which is always good. I love Colorado. I was super pumped about that offer."
Christakos will be visiting Nebraska for their spring game, and will also check out Iowa State during that trip.
A week and a half ago, Christakos visited Princeton, Yale, and Harvard.
"Just amazing," he said of the Ivy League visits. "I don't think many kids around the country get the opportunity to go check them out. I definitely do not regret making the trip out there. It just blew me away -- the campuses, football programs, and everything about them."
