California guard set to announce Monday

Bryce Peters has taken three official visits, with his most recent trip being to Colorado this weekend, and now the 2016 guard prospect from La Verne (Calif.) Damien is ready to announce his college decision.
"I talked with my parents about it, and I will be making my decision tomorrow (Monday at 6:30 pm MDT)," he said. "At the end of the summer, I had about 26 offers so it was very stressful with coaches calling me every day, and I had to let some pretty good schools go. But I am happy about how I went through the process and now it is exciting to announce."

Peters took official visits to UNLV and Wyoming before checking out Boulder this past weekend. What was he looking for in a school?
"It was basically the players, seeing how well I meshed with them, both on and off the court. It was not all about the 'sexy school,' I just wanted to know I would fit in well with the players," Peters said.
Tre'shaun Fletcher and George King served as his player hosts during his trip to Colorado. Former Buffs and current NBA players Andre Roberson and Alec Burks were also in Boulder this weekend.
"I loved it," Peters said when asked to recap his time at Colorado. "The atmosphere was the most impressive part. The scenery was amazing and to top it all off, everything about the school is just energetic with good vibes. There are positive people all around. It is just a great place.
"I heard it was similar to Wyoming just for the simple fact that there are a lot of trees and lots of open space but Colorado wasn't quite what I expected. I didn't think the school was that big, and the players really surprised me. I fit in well. It was almost like I was already on the team."
Colorado told Peters he would be in the mix for playing time as a freshman, and would mostly play a point guard role if he chose the Buffs.
"I actually prefer playing the one for the simple fact that my trainer Cameron Murray, who was basically my uncle as well, taught me to be a point guard," Peters said. "And also, because I am bigger than most point guards, so it is a whole lot easier."
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Peters helped lead Damien to 29 wins and a state championship last winter, and he turned heads throughout the club season.
"Colorado, UNLV and Wyoming all really love my motor," he said. "They have seen me score throughout the summer with 40-plus point games, so they know I can score at will. They just love how hard I play, how hard I hustle and how hard I play defense. My philosophy is anybody can play offense, the people that separate themselves are the players that can play defense."
