Burns will announce on signing day

Lorenzo Burns already knows where he will play his college football. Fans of Colorado and Arizona, his two finalists, will have to wait until signing day to find out his decision, though.

“I don't know what time the ceremony will take place yet, but I do know that my announcement will be made on Wednesday of next week,” said Burns, a three-star athlete prospect from Temecula (Calif.) Linfield Christian School.

“I have already committed to the coaches of the University that I will attend but I told them to keep it quiet so nobody knows until signing day,” he added. “You only get this opportunity once so I want to enjoy the moment.”

Burns took an official visit to both Arizona and Colorado, and he has had multiple in-home visits with both staffs in recent weeks.

“The final sales-pitch I got from Colorado is that it is a great University, and they are going to develop you as a person first, because that is what is most important,” he said. “And then Arizona, just the fact they are a family and they are going to be there for you and have your back. And as far as athletics go, you are competing for great things.”

Burns said very early in the process that he would take his time and would not be pressured into making a decision. Ranked among the nation's top 50 athlete prospects and the top 75 recruits in the Golden State this cycle, Burns received a total of 19 offers, including other offers from Boston College, Cal, Nebraska, Oregon State, Utah, Washington, Washington State and Wisconsin.

“I have enjoyed the recruiting process,” he said. “I believe my plan was great so I have no regrets about it. It helped me narrow it down to who really wanted me.”

Burns was named his league's Athlete of the Year and he also earned first-team all-CIF, all-league and all-area honors after breaking Linfield Christian School's all-purpose yards mark as a senior.
