Colorado needed beef with the recruiting class of 2006, and in the past seven days they have been on a roll. Plano (Texas) West offensive lineman Wes Simon became the Buffaloes' sixth commitment from the class when he gave a verbal pledge on Friday.

Lakewood (Colo.) Green Mountain big man Bill Boyer committed to Colorado last Saturday and Douglas County's Eric Lawson on Wednesday.
"I talked to Coach [Bill] Inge today and I am very committed," explained Simon, who stands 6-foot-2.5, 270-pounds. "I was up there on a visit last weekend and I got a chance to talk with Coach [Dave] Borbely, the offensive line coach, and of course Coach Barnett.
"They are really good guys and they have a lot of what I was looking for," he added. "I can't imagine a better place for me."
Simon chose the Buffs over offers from Iowa State, Kansas, Northwestern and SMU.
"I gave every college a fair chance that offered me," he expressed. "I checked out every school. When I went to Colorado, it blew me away. That's when I knew."
Simon earned all-district honors as a junior. "I don't stop until the whistle blows or the opponent is on the ground," he recently said. "I'm not sloppy and I'm real quick for my size. I always go by the idea that I should stay on my feet when blocking at all times."
Have the Buffs talked about where they see him fitting in? "They see me as an inside man," Simon said. "They said I would work in at both center and guard. I can do both. I am really excited right now and I hope I can come in and play a true freshman."
Since the Ft. Worth NIKE Camp in April, Simon has improved his testing numbers. He ran a 4.76-shuttle and 5.03-forty at Penn State's summer camp. His 31-reps on the bench press at the NIKE Camp was third best among all offensive linemen in attendance.
Academically, Simon currently maintains a 3.1 GPA and he scored 20 the ACT.
