1st Half Recap

Colorado held their own with Arizona the whole first half. The Buffs would take an early lead but eventually, the Wildcats would figure out how to slow Colorado down on offense and expose their defense. Arizona would go on a 15-3 run and take a nine-point lead midway through the first half.

For the Buffs they had no perimeter presence in the first half. The Buffs didn't hit a three-pointer until two minutes left in the first half when Josh Fortune and the Derrick White would each hit to bring the Buffs within one point. At halftime, Arizona hit four three-pointers out of 11 opportunities.

The last time Colorado played Arizona, White only had seven points the whole game tonight to end the first half he had 15 with three rebounds. Xavier Johnson had seven points at the half. Colorado was able to keep up with Arizona’s post presence and halfway through the half, Colorado switched to a zone defense and that would give the Wildcats trouble and the Buffs started to gain the momentum back.

Heading into the locker Colorado would only be down one point against the second-seeded Wildcats. At halftime, Colorado shot 12-30 (40%) from the floor, 2-11 (18.2%) from three and 11-14 (78.6%) from the free throw line. Surprisingly the Buffs only had two first-half turnovers and were only our-rebounded by three.

2nd Half Recap

The Colorado team that came out in the second half looked like the Colorado team that went 0-7 to start the conference. The Buffs didn't put a single second half point on the board until four and a half minutes in. This allowed Arizona to take a ten-point lead.

Arizona would maintain their 10 point lead for most of the second half but they still had a hard time controlling White. White would have 31 points to end the game, six rebounds, five assists, two steals and three turnovers. White took over the game for Colorado but unfortunately for the Buffs no one else on the team was helping him.

The Wildcats would hone in on their defense in the second half and on the other side Colorado had a hard time stopping Arizona who couldn't miss in the second half. The Buffs had no perimeter defense in the second half allowing Arizona to six three-pointers in the second half, 10 total in the game. The Wildcats would take a 13-point lead with under eight minutes left in the game.

Colorado found themselves in foul trouble toward the end of the second half and Arizona took advantage of that and continued to grow their lead. To end the game Colorado would shoot 24-61 from the floor, 8-25 from three-point range, and 22-26 from the line. They had six second-half turnovers and finished by being out-rebounded by one against Arizona.
