Colorado has landed their 18th football commitment in the class of 2018 as Missouri City (Texas) Hightower safety Hasaan Hypolite pledged to play football for the Buffaloes.

Hypolite is a big commitment for the Buffs at a position of need. Colorado needed a true safety to add in this class alongside Ray Robinson, who projects as a Buff backer for Colorado.

"We could be talking about Hypolite as a more high-profile prospect than he is at the moment if he would have embraced his future as a defensive back sooner," Rivals.com state of Texas recruiting analyst Nick Krueger said. "The first time that I saw him he struck me as a safety playing wide receiver. I thought that his tape last fall looked good in his first full-time go at the position, but he didn't participate in many events this offseason to try and show off his progress.

"I still think that he is one of the more athletic guys among players of his caliber and has a lot of upside."

Hypolite chose Colorado over the likes of Colorado State, Houston, Southern Miss, and Texas Tech.

He was originally going to commit to a school in August, but the threats of Hurricane Harvey caused Hypolite to delay his decision. Hypolite officially visited Colorado on September 23 for the Washington game, and that visit ultimately put the Buffs on top.

As mentioned, the Buffs sit at 18 commitments and are nearing their cap for how many recruits that can take in the class. The Buffs have loaded up at defensive back by bringing in Hypolite, Robinson, Delrick Abrams, LJ Wallace, and Kahlef Hailassie.
