Signing Day surprise!

Orange (Calif.) Lutheran cornerback KJ Trujillo was committed to Colorado for five months but backed off his pledge after Mike MacIntyre was fired. He took official visits to San Diego State and Utah State as he looked for his next home.

But Mel Tucker and the new Colorado coaching staff got Trujillo on campus this past weekend, and even though USC started sniffing around late this week, the 6-foot-1, 170-pounder decided on the Buffaloes.

And now, Trujillo is officially a CU Buff.

"Trujillo is not going to blow you away from a physical standpoint but he's a smooth defensive back who keeps receivers in front of him and almost never gives up the big play," Rivals.com west coast analyst Adam Gorney said. "He's smooth as can be, can turn and run with receivers and sometimes you forget he's out there because quarterbacks don't test his side of the field much."
