Mesquite-Horn wide receiver Maureese Wren is hearing his name called more and more as the spring rolls on - and he might not be too far removed from picking up his next batch of big offers.

In the meantime, he’s picked up his most recent from Louisiana-Lafayette, and prior to his recent appearance in the Dallas event of the Rivals Three Stripe Camps presented by Adidas, he made a visit to North Texas, who offered him in the beginning of March.

“They’re doing a lot of construction and I understand what they’re doing out there, so I really like it,” he said of his UNT visit. “I like their new stadium, it’s pretty nice over there.”

Wren also holds offers from SMU and Texas State, but is anticipating growing that list by the end of summer after he’ll have made visits to Colorado and Minnesota.

“I have been talking with Coach (Darian) Hagan and Coach (Darrin) Chiaverini,” he said. “They can’t wait to get me up there and they are coming to see me in the spring.”

The circumstances with Minnesota are pretty similar, but he anticipates his scheduled April 21 visit north to end with an offer from the Gophers as well.

“It’s the same thing with them, they want me to come up there so they can see me,” he said. “They like the way I play.”

RIVALS REACTION

Wren is an interesting prospect as a bigger receiver. He said that he’s not too familiar with what new Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck might bring to the Gophers, but is aware of the optimism of his hire.

Both Colorado and Minnesota would make things interesting in his recruitment as his first potential Power Five offers, but Wren and several of his Horn teammates have been picking up offers recently, so his recruitment is likely to continue trending upwards.
