What Should Colorado's Biggest Recruiting Priority Be?

Recruiting has been exciting for Colorado over the last three months, with the Buffs landing 15 of their 19 commitments during that time period. In June, the Buffs reeled in 9 commitments alone.

Breakdown Of Colorado's Commitments as of August 17th, 2016

1 - Quarterback

1 - Running Back

3 - Receivers

0 - Tight Ends

3 - Offensive Linemen

2 - Defensive Linemen

3 - Linebacker

3 - Defensive Backs

3 - Athletes

So where should Colorado’s recruiting priority be as of mid-August? When polling the Buff Nation Message Board, 50% voted for Defensive Line to be Colorado’s biggest need. Hard to disagree with the fans there. Colorado’s defensive line includes: Senior Josh Tupou, Senior Jordan Carrell, and Senior Samson Kafovalu, all projected to start and all slated to leave the program after the season.

Though current sophomores like Jase Franke and Eddy Lopez are rising interior linemen and Leo Jackson along with Timothy Coleman are juniors, big bodies are needed on defense. Currently Colorado has landed 6-foot-3, 245 pound Carson Wells out of Bushnell, Florida and Shamar Hamilton a 6-foot-5, 235 pound defensive end from ASA JC in Miami.

Wells has the body type to actually transition to outside linebacker when he gets to Colorado next year, Hamilton has good size, but he is not an interior linemen, which is needed.
