BOULDER-- Before the 2016-2017 football season started, The University of Colorado Buffaloes were picked to finish last in the PAC 12 South but Head Coach Mike MacIntyre had something different in mind... Become PAC 12 Champs. Although they fell short last Friday night, MacIntyre has yet to fall short as a coach this year.

From a team that finished 4-9 last season to PAC 12 South Champions with a record of 10-3 this season, MacIntyre has turned this program around and has instilled faith back in the Colorado football community.

MacIntyre was award with the PAC 12 Head Coach of the Year on November 29th and on December 1st was announced as the Walter Camp Coach of the Year and the awards didn't stop there.

He was also named the Home Depot Coach of the Year by ESPN which is given to the nation's top college football head coach, tonight he was presented with his award.

Here are a few things he had to say about receiving this award;

On what's most proud of:

"I am proud of our young men, they faced adversity they heard all the naysayers and they just looked it in the face, they kept working, kept going, our coaching staff did an unbelievable job with them. But just the spirit of young people to overcome something that nobody thought they could do, they give me energy every day."

On the essential ingredient to success to this year:

"We cared about them a lot and showed them that they had a lot of potential and if you keep breathing into young people and keep telling them and keep being positive and keep giving them life that they will find a way to do it and these young men bonded, especially our seniors and fourth-year juniors, they wanted to leave a legacy at Colorado that had been there in the past and they've done that."

On being a coach's son:

"Being a coaches son was awesome and I loved every moment of it, even though my mom didn't want me to go into coaching, my dad was an inspiration to me, you know he passed this year but I know he's watching from a seat up top and proud and I;m very honored to carry on the MacIntyre name"
