ICYMI: Class of 2013 Recruiting Rewind

For the juniors from the Class of 2014 (MacIntyre's second recruiting class) really the first that he fully put together, the Class has an overall record of 16-23, and reaching the Alamo Bowl game this past season. Overall the Class was ranked 64th by Rivals.com, but has proved to have some players rise up and contribute on Saturdays.

Out of St. John Bosco in California, Shay Fields continues to have a strong career at Colorado. In 2016 he caught 56 passes for 883-yards (15.8 average) and scored 9 touchdowns. He torched Oregon State grabbing 7 passes for 169-yards and 3 scores in early October. During the 2015 season he caught 42 passes for 598-yards with 4 touchdowns, and in 2014 he caught 50 passes for 486-yards and 4 touchdowns. In total Fields has caught 148 passes at Colorado for 2,267-yards, and 17 touchdowns.

For the last two seasons, Rick Gamboa has played in a total of 1,218 plays on defense for Colorado. During the 2015 season he led the team in tackles as an RS-Freshman with 96 tackles, 58 of that total came from solo wrap-ups. During the 2016 season, he was second on the team in total tackles with 79, including one interception which he returned for a touchdown. Though Colorado has plenty of talent returning at linebacker, Gamboa has plenty of experience, which should again keep him on the field for the Buffs.

What a year Ahkello Witherspoon had for the Buffs in 2016. Though he played in 13 games during the 2015 season, he really turned into one of the best corners in the PAC 12 this past season playing in 797-plays, recording 24 tackles, and recording an incredible 22 pass deflections, a stat which was among the best in the nation. Witherspoon who leaves the program this year was also selected to partake in the East/West Shrine Game.

The son of Head Colorado Football Coach Mike MacIntyre has earned playing time for the Buffs over the last two years, this past season he was 5th on the team in receiving yardage. Jay MacIntyre caught for 30 receptions for 390-yards and one touchdown. With the receiving talent, the Buffs have incoming into the 2017 season, it will be interesting to see if MacIntyre gets as much playing time as he did in 2016. MacIntyre also returned 17 punts for the Buffs for 152-yards (8.9 average).
