Michigan edge rusher Taylor Upshaw announces commitment to Colorado

Colorado has focused on adding depth and talent up front at this point in the recruiting cycle, and the defensive line received a boost Saturday night when Michigan transfer Taylor Upshaw announced his commitment to the Buffs while on a visit to Boulder. Upshaw has one season of eligibility left but comes to CU with 37 games of experience in the Big Ten.

Upshaw made two starts during his five years with the Wolverines. The 6-foot-4 edge rusher made steady progress throughout his time in Ann Arbor, and the 2022 season was the most productive of his career.

He finished up the 14-game season with 12 tackles (5 solo) to go with a career-high 4.5 tackles for loss while tying a career high with 2 sacks. Upshaw also intercepted a pass in his final season at Michigan.

The new CU edge rusher has strong football bloodlines as the son of former NFL defensive lineman Regan Upshaw and the brother of former Clemson walk-on captain and DE Regan Upshaw II.

Upshaw is the sixth defensive lineman the staff has landed a commitment from since Deion Sanders took over as head coach. He is the 23rd transfer to join the team this offseason.
