With Dominique Collier and George King graduating from Colorado after this season, the Colorado Buffaloes needed to add wing players in the class of 2018.

The Buffs landed signatures from two three-star guards on Wednesday. Both Daylen Kountz and Elijah Parquet officially visited Colorado the weekend of September 8, 2017, and both committed that same weekend.

"These are two really good, talented young men from great families," Colorado head coach Tad Boyle said. "They both visited here on the same weekend in September. I'm excited about both of them."

Kountz is a local product from Denver East High School, which is the same high school that Collier attended. Collier and Kountz are childhood friends as well.

"Daylen is a left-handed kid, who can really move the ball quickly," Boyle said about Kountz. "He has great speed from baseline to baseline. He's a very capable shooter, but he can really get the ball in the paint and attack the glass, which we like to do from our perimeter players. I think he has the chance to be an elite level defender, because he has good length, and again, that speed and quickness is going to serve him well as he moves to the division one level."

During Parquet's recruitment, the Beaumont (Texas) Westbrook shooting guard held other offers from the likes of Houston, Oral Roberts, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, Virginia Tech, and many others.

"He has great length for a guy his size," said Boyle. "He's about 6-foot-3 and has really long arms. He can shoot the ball, can pass the ball, and can dribble the ball. He's very multi-faceted, which we like. He's going to be a utility-type guard for us. We're excited. He has the chance to be a great defender. Texas is a key state for us recruiting-wise."

Coaches' Corner

Denver East head coach Rudy Carey on Kountz

"Very athletic, very serious kid about basketball although he plays for the fun of it. He's self-motivated, and has a quiet toughness about him."

West Brook head coach Andre Boote on Parquet

"Elijah is first of all a winner; a true team player. Hopefully this year our goal is to win as many games as we can as a team, but my goal for him is to exert himself to the fullest, be a vocal leader, scoring leader, rebounding, do whatever it takes. He does an excellent job involving his teammates; a true team basketball player."
