Vaatofu Sauvao was what one would call a "silent commitment" to Colorado.

Not because the Buffs' coaches or Sauvao were hiding anything, but simply because he wanted to keep things to himself and his family.

Sauvao officially visited Colorado for the Oregon State game in late October, which is when he pledged to the coaching staff. However, after Mike MacIntyre was fired, it left the JuCo lineman in a place of limbo.

Mel Tucker's staff came in, watched Sauvao's tape, and quickly realized what MacIntyre's coaches saw in the 6-foot-3, 310-pound offensive lineman. A beast.

"Basically, I’m a very physical person," Sauvao said. "I grew up playing offensive lineman my whole football career, from youth leagues to high school and here at Modesto Junior College. I don’t know exactly what makes me a good offensive lineman but my best answer is that I love hitting and putting people on their back."

Sauvao is strongly committed to Colorado and will sign with the Buffaloes on Wednesday. He will come in as a redshirt junior and enroll in January.

"I chose Colorado because they have always been in touch with me consistently, which is one of the reason why I wanted to be part of their program," he said. "Because it shows that they really care and see a bright future in me."

Most of his recruitment with Colorado was with MacIntyre's staff, but Sauvao hit it off with Coach Tucker as well.

"After talking with Coach Tucker, I felt like that there will be something special going on in Colorado for the next couple years," said Sauvao. "I feel like that I have been recruited at the perfect time. I just can’t wait to play under him and win games, hopefully the Pac-12 title."
