Season tickets sold out for Boyles Buffs

Colorado's men's basketball team does not begin the 2013-14 season for nearly another month, however, Tad Boyle's squad has already accomplished something never done before in the program's history. They generated enough buzz to sell out season tickets.

The announcement was made on Thursday morning.

"I think it just shows the passion that the Colorado fans have for our basketball program and where Tad Boyle has been taking this program," CU Associate Athletic Director of External Affairs and Chief Marketing Officer Matt Biggers told BuffStampede.com. "To have this kind of unprecedented season ticket levels, it just shows how excited the community is to support this program."

It did not require any marketing gimmicks or promotions for Biggers and the Buffaloes' ticket office to achieve success with season ticket sales.

"We got to it through our renewal process and through our wait list process," Biggers explained. "People were just wanting to buy season tickets or add more and then people on our wait list had put down a deposit to get a season ticket. Just going through that process got us to our sellout. It did not happen last year. It is the first time ever."

There are still a limited number of single game tickets available.

"The pre-sale process is kind of a tiered approach so our season ticket holders have access right now," Biggers said. "The next step that is kind of open for the public is those people that sign up for our Buffs Blast free e-newsletter, which you can sign up for on CUBuffs.com. And that pre-sale will start on Monday."

Any remaining single game tickets after the pre-sales will be on sale to the general public on Tuesday, Oct. 15 beginning at 8 am (MDT).

"Due to the high demand for the Kansas and Arizona games, we have very limited single game tickets. So for those games, single-game tickets are being offered via the process that is used for post-season tickets with access based on donor priority points," Biggers said. "We are working our way down through that list. We don't expect to get very far with those."

With Boyle at the helm the last three years, Colorado has enjoyed an 86.3 winning percentage at the Coors Events Center. The Buffs averaged 10,392 fans last season, 94 percent of the arena's capacity.

"It is going to continue to be the place to be," Biggers said of the Coors Events Center. "Now that we have these tickets sold we just need to make sure that people show up to every game and are loud. If they can't be at the game, they need to make sure they know we'll use the tickets so we can be rocking all season long. It is going to be exciting."

Buffs women's basketball tickets are on sale on CUBuffs.com. Season tickets start at $100 for 16 home games.

The men's team will open the season against Baylor in Dallas on Nov. 8. Their home opener will be against UT Martin two days later on Nov. 10 at 4 pm.
