Colorado extended a scholarship offer to D'Shawn Schwartz two weeks ago, and after a head turning performance at the USA Basketball developmental camp last week, the Colorado Springs (Colo.) Sand Creek shooting guard is rated a four-star prospect on Rivals.com.

Schwartz, a smooth 6-foot-6, 215-pound lefty from the Class of 2017, has fielded calls from coaches at UConn and Kansas in the last week.
"This past week has been pretty crazy, getting calls from a lot of people telling me how well I played," he said. "Right now I am just trying to take it all in. I am not weighing out anything yet. I am just going to wait to see all my options and not turn away anything right now. I am definitely going to wait until next year to make a decision."
Although the aforementioned USA Basketball camp was his coming out party, Schwartz has been on Colorado's radar for two years now. While shooting 53 percent from the field, he averaged 15.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and a steal per game for Sand Creek as a sophomore. Schwartz prides himself on his mid-range pull-up, his ability to get the rim and his ability to guard multiple positions.
"I just needed the added exposure for more people to find out about me," Schwartz said. "In my opinion, I have been one of the premiere players in my class. It is just in Colorado you don't really get the looks that you should. So the camp was a really good time for me to show out.
"I think I was the one playing the hardest out there. I was consistent and definitely had the most energy out there. I was used to the altitude and I was just playing my hardest. I think I held my own when I was guarding Josh Jackson and some of the good players that are already committed."
Utah State and Weber State offered Schwartz first. What was his reaction to getting his first major conference offer from the Buffaloes?
"It is great having an offer from CU," he said. "[Head coach] Tad [Boyle] talked to me for a while and we just had a good conversation about what the future might hold. I have been up to CU plenty of times so I know it is a great campus, it is definitely a great school and I really love the staff.
"I really like the Pac-12. That is where I really see myself fitting in. Not saying I wouldn't go to any other school but I just really like that conference and CU is just a great place. It is very welcoming, close to home, I just love it there."
While Schwartz is planning to take his time with the recruiting process, he knows what he wants in a program and knows he wants to study Finance in college.
"I definitely want to be somewhat close to home," he said. "I also want to be somewhere where I can play right away and have the ball in my hands a lot."
