It’s safe to say that there’s some intrigue surrounding the tight ends room this season at Colorado.

One, potentially two, of the six scholarships available must be delegated toward building the depth within the room. As of now Louis Passarello and Caleb Fauria are on scholarship and tight ends coach Tim Brewster is adjusting accordingly to establish a room that can serve the position and the offense all around.

Passarello’s emergence on Colorado’s new roster came somewhat as a surprise simply because of his complete absence at the position on a 2022 Buffs team that was trying whoever, whenever.

At the end of the season, Erik Olsen was the appointed next man up behind Brady Russell, and behind him were Frank Filip and Austin Smith.

He only saw action on special teams (recorded eight special teams points), and months later, he’s the starting tight end ahead of four-star transfer Seydou Traore (who has since left to Mississippi State). Passarello's rise at a position that looked to be a lock for Traore plays into the unexpected nature of what Brewster and the offense are looking for in a tight end that fits their scheme. Ultimately, size appears to be the priority.

There’s only one tight end in that group who is under 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, which is new addition PWO Michael Harrsion who transitioned over from wide receiver after Brewster's evaluations.
