Peters elated to be a Buff

Bryce Peters wasted no time in making his commitment to the Buffaloes official. At the first possible moment, during the first day of the early signing period for basketball, the Rivals150 guard from La Verne (Calif.) Damien faxed in his signed letter of intent to Colorado.

"I first eliminated all the California schools for the simple fact I have been in California my whole life and I wanted to get away and experience something else," said Peters, who stands 6-foot-4, 190-pounds. "Next, I looked to see what teams played hard defensively, and from there, I looked at the Pac-12 schools and Mountain West schools recruiting me.
"I had a lot of offers and probably would have considered a lot more schools if I hadn't fallen in love with Colorado. The family atmosphere stood out and the campus was nice, clean, wide open and the people were excellent. Hanging out with my future teammates, they showed me love like I was with them from day one, like they have known me for a long time. As soon as I got back home from the visit, I knew Colorado was the one. It just felt right in my heart."
Peters earned All-Baseline League honors and helped lead Damien to 29 wins and a state championship last winter. He continued to turn heads throughout the club season. The Buffs' coaches told Peters he will play primarily a point guard role when he gets to Boulder.
"Bryce can score the ball in a lot of different ways," Colorado head coach Tad Boyle said. "He's fearless; he exerts his will on the game. There's an aggressiveness about him especially offensively that's going to allow him to make plays and I think he could have an impact right away."
Peters will begin his senior season at Damien later this month by competing in the Sierra Vista Tournament. The Spartans have a new head coach in Mike LeDuc and they also have six new transfers.
"Committing and signing with Colorado early was the best thing that ever happened to me. During the summer, I got about 50 calls a week from different schools. My phone was just always blowing up," he said. "Having my commitment official has basically taken the stress off me and now I get to focus on trying to win another state championship with my team. I can't wait for this upcoming season."
