Dae'Quantae Showers helped Trinity Christian to 14 straight wins and a 3A state title in 2015.

Dae'Quantae Showers averaged nearly a first-down on 81 touches during his junior campaign at Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian. That playmaking ability has prompted a dozen colleges to step up with an offer, with Colorado being one of his newest offers.

“I talked with [Buffaloes cornerbacks coach] Charles Clark and he asked me if I am interested in playing in the Pac-12. I was like, 'Man, honestly I would be down to play in the Pac-12,'” said Showers, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound scat back. “I could go to Colorado and play against those big name schools and make them pay for not talking to me.

“I really wasn't too big on Colorado before but that is only because I really didn't know about it. I have done some research and it seems like a great program. I talked to the coach and I really want to come up there this summer. That is one of the places I really want to go visit. I am not afraid to get away from home and see other places.”

Showers has also received offers from Appalachian State, Buffalo, Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Georgia Southern, Mercer, Purdue, Southern Mississippi, Troy and Western Kentucky.

“I like Western Kentucky, App State, FIU,” he said. “The quarterback that transferred in to our school recently is from Kentucky and he said he likes it up there. He was filling me in. They run a spread offense and move the ball at Western Kentucky so I want to take a visit there. I also want to go check out App State this summer and get a feel for it because I like what I have heard from their coaches. It sounds like a nice place.”

In no rush to decide, Showers plans to take his time with the process and venture out to see as many campuses as possible before making a commitment.

“I'm looking for a home away from home. I want to be comfortable with my surroundings, no matter where I am,” he said. “I really wouldn't mind going out West to California or Arizona, all those schools. I am open to going anywhere.”
